Billanook College

Case Study

The Billanook College Mastery Centre was opened in October 2017 in response to their Learning Framework. The Mastery Centre is home to a Middle School Community (Years 7-9) of around 300 students and 20 teaching staff.

Each learning space within the Mastery Centre was designed to cater for a range of different modes of teaching and learning to support the Mastery Domain of their Learning Framework.

The keys we feel are designing spaces that are modern and contemporary that support our curriculum.

Spaces must also be flexible and cater for a range of different activities and modes of teaching and learning.
Spaces must also be accessible and visible to all to promote and model positive learning habits and skills.

When looking for furniture to use within our learning environment it must be:

  • Modern in looks and design
  • Comfortable for the learner to use
  • Flexible – easy to move around and have multiple uses and purpose
  • Sturdiness and longevity
  • Affordable

Billanook College has a valued long standing partnership with Wood’s. We have worked with the team of Wood’s on a number of successful projects now.

They really knew how to make a client feel comfortable about all the decisions that are made in the design process, from inception through to implementation.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the final results and to see our community actively engaging with the spaces that were created with the furniture by Wood’s.

We would highly recommend any school looking to embark on a similar journey to us to strongly consider giving the team at Wood’s a call.
